“My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad.”
“My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad.” — Alcoholics Anonymous (1939) · Chapter 6 · Into ActionWhere it comes from
The opening of the Seventh Step Prayer from Chapter 6, said when asking for shortcomings to be removed.
Today’s reflection“Good and bad” is the radical part. Most of us spent years presenting an edited version — to God, to family, to ourselves — and managing the rest privately. The prayer ends the editing. All of me means the resentments and the talents, the fear and the humor, handed over together. Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself; it’s finally submitting the complete file. What’s still marked private?
